The Sinai Peninsula's mountain interior is one of the most visually spectacular and historically significant landscapes in the world, yet most visitors never venture beyond their resort pool. This half-day guided hiking adventure changes that, leading small groups along ancient Bedouin trails that have been walked for thousands of years by nomadic tribes, pilgrims, and spice merchants. Your guide — a Bedouin from the local Tarabin or Muzeina tribe — leads you along well-worn paths that wind through dramatic sandstone gorges, across elevated plateaus with 360-degree panoramas of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aqaba, and down into hidden wadis where hardy acacia trees and desert plants cling to the rocky soil. Along the way you'll discover the plants the Bedouin use for food, medicine, and navigation; learn to read the desert landscape for signs of water and wildlife; and hear ancient stories of the mountains that have shaped Bedouin identity for millennia. The hike is moderate in difficulty — suitable for those with a reasonable level of fitness — and covers approximately 8-10 kilometres over four hours. The adventure concludes with a traditional Bedouin tea ceremony in a mountain camp, where you can rest, ask questions, and absorb the extraordinary silence of the Sinai wilderness.
