One of the New Seven Wonders of the World lies just a ferry ride away from Sharm El-Sheikh — and this 2-day tour makes the journey to Petra, Jordan simple, memorable, and extraordinary. Day one begins with a morning ferry crossing from Nuweiba in Egypt to Aqaba in Jordan, where your English-speaking Jordanian guide and air-conditioned vehicle await at the port. Aqaba itself is a charming, cosmopolitan Red Sea city, and the short drive north to Petra takes you through the biblical landscape of southern Jordan — the same landscape through which the Nabataean camel caravans once transported the spices of Arabia to the ports of the Mediterranean. Arriving at Petra in the late afternoon, you walk the Siq — the narrow, kilometre-long gorge flanked by 200-metre walls — before the iconic Treasury (Al-Khazneh) appears around the final bend: one of the most arresting architectural sights on earth. After dinner, you overnight at a Petra-area hotel. Day two is a full morning exploring the Petra rose-red rock city — the Street of Facades, the Roman Theatre, the Royal Tombs, and the Monastery if your energy allows. Return ferry in the afternoon.
