Freediving — the ancient art of diving on a single breath — is one of the most serene and meditative sports on earth, and the warm, clear waters of the Red Sea at Sharm El Sheikh are among the finest places in the world to learn. This beginner's course is designed for absolute newcomers with no prior experience: all you need is an ability to swim and a sense of curiosity. The session begins on land with a comprehensive theory session covering the physiology of breath-holding, the mammalian dive reflex, equalization techniques for your ears, and the fundamental safety rules that keep freedivers safe. Your certified instructor then leads you through a dedicated breathwork and relaxation session — learning to quiet the mind and slow the heart rate, transforming the body into an efficient underwater machine. In the water, you start in a sheltered shallow pool or calm sea area, practising static apnea (floating breath-holds) and dynamic apnea (horizontal swimming on one breath). As your confidence and technique develop, your instructor guides you to the reef for your first real guided freedive — descending through the crystal-clear Red Sea water, weightless and silent, surrounded by the vivid coral and tropical fish that make this destination world-famous. All equipment — mask, fins, wetsuit, weight belt — is provided. Maximum depth is monitored and never exceeds safe beginner limits.
