This two-day, one-night cultural immersion takes you deep into the heart of the Sinai Peninsula to spend genuine time with a Bedouin community whose way of life has changed little in hundreds of years. Departing from Sharm El-Sheikh in the afternoon, the journey winds through sandstone canyons and acacia-lined wadis to reach the village as the sun sets over the desert plateau. Your host family welcomes you with sweet cardamom tea before leading you to your accommodation: a traditional open-sided Bedouin tent furnished with hand-woven rugs, low cushions and lanterns, open to the sky so you can fall asleep watching the stars in one of the world's darkest skies. Dinner is a feast cooked entirely by the women of the household over an open fire — fresh-baked taboon bread, slow-cooked lamb in a clay pot, roasted vegetables with wild Sinai spices and fresh lemon, followed by roasted dates and sage tea. After dinner, the men of the village gather around the fire for an evening of music played on traditional instruments including the oud and the rababa (a one-stringed fiddle), accompanied by stories of Bedouin life, desert navigation and the ancient tribal history of the South Sinai tribes. The following morning begins before sunrise with a guided walk to a nearby peak to watch the dawn light ignite the desert in shades of amber and ochre. A simple but nourishing breakfast of flatbread, fresh cheese, honey and herbal tea follows before the return journey to Sharm El-Sheikh. Maximum 8 guests per group to ensure an authentic, personal experience.
