Your route takes you through a combination of open sand flats, rocky ridges and ancient dried riverbeds known locally as wadis. The light changes constantly as you ride, and the desert reveals new colours — amber, slate grey, dusty pink — depending on the angle of the sun. The two-hour session is long enough to build genuine confidence on the bike while covering substantial ground and reaching viewpoints where the entire valley floor is spread below you. Sunset timing is available and particularly recommended for the extraordinary quality of late-afternoon desert light, which turns every rock formation golden.
